The Foot Store offers a variety of extra-depth shoes and inserts to meet the needs of diabetic customers. Through The Therapeutic Shoe Bill (TSB), Pedorthist and staff at The Foot Store can provide specialized foot care for diabetic patients.
The Foot Store requires a Statement of Certifying Physician for Therapeutic Shoe and a prescription from the Diabetic Certifying Physician for a diabetic patient to schedule an appointment.
Insurance benefits are based on individual insurance company’s guidelines. Generally, a qualifying patient can receive one pair of extra depth shoes and one to three pair of inserts.
The TSB states that Medicare will reimburse 80% of the amount it designates as “allowable,” after any or all deductibles are met, with the patient being responsible for paying the supplier a minimum of 20% of the total payment amount.
If the Medicare supplier does not accept assignment of the claim, the patient is responsible for the entire amount and will receive reimbursement directly from Medicare. Within South Carolina, The Foot Store will file insurance as a courtesy to our customers. It is the responsibility of our customers to know what their insurance policy covers and if The Foot Store is in their network.
